Don't Hate, Celebrate!

It ain't easy being an entrepreneur, let alone an artist that's an entrepreneur. The struggle is real.
Don't get me wrong I love my path and I wouldn't have it any other way, but sometimes the cards feel like they're stacked against you. Which is why it's so incredibly important for artists and business women to stick together and to support and celebrate one another.
I recently was subjected to some internet abuse from a fellow female artist whom I thought was a friend. She said some really horrible things about my work and my apparent successes. I was incredibly shocked and thrown for a loop with her random negativity and harsh words and opinions. I don't expect everyone to be a fan or to love what I'm doing, but what's the point of sending negativity someone's way just because you don't think they deserve the opportunities they have been given (or in my case worked my ass of for)?
It's in rare form that I receive hateful messages regarding my work, most of my network is incredibly loving and supportive, but I just wanted to stress the importance of congratulating and celebrating each other. Luckily, I have tough skin and her negativity and unkindess did not pierce me. It only inspired me to create more & turn that bad juju into something fun and positive (see video below).
I've also created a list of why I think it's important to build up your peers rather than tear them down!
1. GIRL TALK! - Word travels fast especially in the art and fashion industry. You never want to talk negatively about someone in your industry. Not only is it unprofessional and unkind it actually makes you look bad and untrustworthy. Keep the gossip and negative talk to a minimum or keep it to yourself.
2. MEAN GIRLS FINISH LAST! - We all know about Mean Girls, but how far does that get you past high school? If you're known for being mean and negative no one will want to work with you or support you! People like to support and give money to people they like not people with bad attitudes and energy.
3. SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL GIRL GANG! - Success is driven by people! You need people on your side in order to succeed. When you support other women (people) in your field, they'll support you back (at least that's the rule of thumb). The bigger your network is and the more support you have from your community the better and bigger chances you have at succeeding in your field! Again, this is only possible if you're a kind and genuine person.
4. YOU GET WHAT YOU GIVE! - If you go around spreading negativity, that's exactly what you're going to get in return. If you want to breed negativity then your best bet is to be an asshole to everyone you meet, and you'll surely get that right back!
All and all I'm sure all know this. I'm just getting it off my chest cuz it feels damn good! HIgh five and kudos to the magical ladies and fellas persuing their dreams and not letting anyone bring them down!
